Samsung Galaxy S4 vs HTC One: Battle of 1080p Smartphone Giants

Samsung finally unveiled its newest flagship Galaxy S4 at an event in NYC. Attempting to draw attention away from Samsung's launch event, however, the phone spoke for itself. I was quite impressed with the new gadget. It seems like that the Galaxy S4 will take the mobile arena by storm. Having said that, there still exists tight race around the Galaxy S4 just coming from HTC's gigantic mobile HTC One. Which phone is your cup of tea? To avoid you lost in a rough pick-up, here I take Galaxy S4 stacks up next to HTC's flagship phone. Just have a look at the battle between two 1080p smartphone giants: Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. HTC One. (If you are lost in buying a Nexus 4 now or waiting for the Galaxy S4 ship, this post will be your dish.)

  • Design

Galaxy S4: 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9mm, 130g

HTC One: 137.4 x 68.2 x 9.3mm, 143g

The S4's design is perhaps the most unremarkable aspect of the new phone. It hasn't been updated much from the S3's look. More disappointedly, it still features a plastic casing. Yes I should admit that the plastic frame of the S4 makes it lighter than HTC One. And the S4 might be the better option if weight is an issue for you.

HTC, on the other hand, has given the One a premium, quality build. Its unibody aluminum chassis and thin bezel set it apart from the competition. Personally, its high-end build quality makes the HTC One a front runner in this round.

Winner: HTC One

  • Display

Samsung has given the Galaxy S4 a Full HD 5-inch display with a resolution of 441ppi. Images and videos are expected to be crystal clear on the handset. Its Air View technology is one of its most differentiating features.

The HTC One packs in a 4.7-inch SLCD3 screen with a resolution of 1280 x 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 468ppi. Users could enjoy vivid contrasts and vibrant colours on the phone.

With its new-age technology, the Galaxy S4 wins the display round.

Winner: Galaxy S4

  • Processor

The Galaxy S4's processor has created quite a stir in the tech world. The handset is equipped with the Exynos Octa-core chipset clocked at 1.6GHz. It has more than enough juice to run all its apps flawlessly.

The HTC One runs on a 1.7GHZ quad-core Qualcomm 600 processor and an Adreno 320 GPU. The handset is built for multi-tasking and handles all of Android Jelly Bean’s sophisticated apps with ease.

With its most updated processor, the Galaxy S4 races ahead in the power round.

Winner: Galaxy S4

  • Storage

Samsung has given its latest flagship ample amount of internal storage – available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB flavours, along with external memory expansion options. The Galaxy S4 also comes with 2GB of RAM.

HTC has designed its new flagship in variants of 32GB and 64GB of internal space. Though it packs in a RAM of 2GB as well, it does not support external memory expansion.

Its generosity with storage makes Samsung a winner in this round.

Winner: Galaxy S4

  • Operating System

Samsung's Galaxy S4 features Google's Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OS out of the box. The HTC One, although featuring Android Jelly Bean, only ships with Android 4.1.

Besides, Galaxy S4 also comes with its Touchwiz, offering some new unique software features you cannot see on HTC One.

Winner: Galaxy S4

  • Camera

The Galaxy S4 packs in a 13-megapixel primary snapper and a 2-megapixel front shooter. Smart Scroll, Air Gesture and Smart Pause are its most defining features, giving Smart Stay a whole new personality.

HTC One's 4-megapixel camera boasts of specs like Optical Image Stabilization, Smart Flash, HDR, Continuous Shooting, Video Pic, Slow Motion Video Recording, HTC Zoe Share, HTC Zoe with Highlights and Retouch with Object Removal, Always Smile and Sequence Shot. One of the best features of the phone’s secondary snapper is its 88 degrees wide angle lens with HDR capability.

The Galaxy S4’s 13-megapixel snapper and HTC One’s added features put them head-to-head in this round.

Winner: Draw between Galaxy S4 and HTC One

  • Conclusion

If you currently stuck in picking up a Galaxy S4 or HTC One, I should say you are in a tough choice.
Both devices are pretty neck and neck, though the Galaxy S4 seems to beat the HTC One in many ways, but not by much.

Undoubtedly the Galaxy S4 is a smartphone giant. Its new age specs put it right on top of the competition. Its only shortcut seems to be the plastic casing.

Talking about HTC One, it gives the Galaxy S4 some pretty stiff competition. Its premium build helps it win fans, but Samsung's offering might be preferred by those who desire extra storage on their handsets.

My choice is Galaxy S4. What about yours? Welcome to show it below!

HTC One vs Samsung Galaxy S3: How HTC's Latest Superphone Stacks up

At long last, the much-talk-about HTC One (ever dubbed as HTC M7 before) is finally here! This new flagship smartphone from HTC wowed us at the launch events in New York thanks to its slick looks and premium features including the 1.7GHz quuad-core processor, Near Field Communication, LTE mobile broadband, stereo speakers, 4.7-inch screen with a 468 pixel-per-inch resolution and a 4 "ultrapixels" camera.

It is well-known that the advent of HTC One aims at battling head on with some of popular smartphones in the market just like Samsung Galaxy S3, which is tagged as the best-selling smartphone of the second and third quarter of 2012. Is this new device the real killer for Galaxy S3? I know many of you are fixing the eyes on this fierce battle, so now just follow me to see how HTC's latest mobile HTC One stacks up against Samsung's flagship Galaxy S3.

Screen

HTC One has a 4.7-inch HD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and its screen packs in an unbelievable 468 pixel-per-inch resolution, while Galaxy S3 features a 4.8-inch screen with 306 pixel-per-inch, at a resolution of 720 x 1280.

HTC's display is a little bit smaller, but it packs many more pixels. In person, screen over 320 pixels/inch is invincible.

Processor

HTC One is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.7 GHz. Samsung's smartphone packs its own 1.4 GHz quad core Exynos processor for international version, Snapdragon S4 dual core at 1.5GHz for the US version.

It is well-known that HTC One is one of the first Snapdragon 600 devices and Qualcomm says that its new CPU promises unprecedented performance per watt, potentially delivering great battery life. In such a case, the HTC one wins the prize.

RAM

The HTC One's 2GB of RAM match the North American Galaxy S3 but double the global edition's 1GB.

Camera

HTC One packed a 4 ultrapixels rear camera that promises clearer and more vivid pictures compared to Samsung Galaxy S3's 8 megapixels shooter.

As you probably know, the killer feature on HTC One is its 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" camera, which could capture more light than conventional smartphone shooters. The lens also boasts a maximum aperture of f/2.0, which allows more light through to the 1/3-inch backlit-CMOS sensor, which should translate to better low-light performance.

Battery

HTC One has a 2300 mAh embedded rechargeable Li-polymer battery compared to Galaxy S3's 2100 mAh battery.

Storage

Samsung sells the Galaxy S3 in three different storage options, while the One comes in two. Only the Galaxy S3 allow you to expand its storage with a microSD card.

Wireless

If your carrier offers LTE, then both phones will ride the speedy network. LTE is becoming more commonplace, and the Nexus 4 may be the last high-end device that doesn't support it.

Operating System

On the software front, the HTC One will come with Android v4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS right out of the box. Some Samsung Galaxy S3 owners, especially those who bought the device through a carrier are still waiting for the update in their handsets.

Based on above review, you must find that HTC has made a phone with premium design, cutting-edge specs and some genuinely-intriguing software features. If the company throws all of its weight into marketing HTC One, surely HTC One will win the war and HTC will get back its market share from Samsung. Its  HTC's time to shine!

Finally, what about your opinion on the fight between HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S3? Which one is your favor? Show your thoughts below!
