Sony Xperia Tablet Z vs Google Nexus 10 vs Apple iPad 4: Who is the King?

Thanks to the coming of Sony Xperia Tablet Z, the top-ranking tablet market has just got yet another strong competitor. Crafted by Sony, this smart tablet packs with an array of eye-feasting hardware features and is set to take a Japan release this spring. To be honest, the Xperia tablet will give a stiff rival to the existing top-end tablet devices like Nexus 10, iPad 4.

The iPad 4 and Nexus 10 are the representatives of current top tablets line. All Apple tablets are selling like hot cakes and the Nexus 10 is one of the best large-screen Android tablets. Made by Samsung, it is an ideal Android tablet with a high-resolution display and dual core processor. So here let us start the comparison between Sony Xperia Tablet Z, iPad 4 and Nexus 10. Go for a check!

  • Display Screen

Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a large-screen device with a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200p Reality display, making use of Sony's new Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2.

The iPad 4 and Nexus 10 respectively stuff 9.7-inch and 10.1-inch screen. The new generation Apple tablet has an LED-backlit IPS LCD with a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels at 264-ppi, while the Nexus 10 is the best tablet when it comes to screen resolution. It features a Super PLS TFT screen with a whopping 2560 x 1600 pixels at 299-ppi.

  • Processor

Sony has built-in a powerful quad-core CPU onboard its new flagship tablet, which come with a 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8064 processor and 2GB of RAM. Currently, there is no info available on its GPU. The device has 32GB of internal memory and expandable SDcard slot.

Further, the iPad 4 is with a 1.4GHz dual core Apple A6X processor, 1GB of RAM and a quad core PowerVR SGX554MP4 graphical card. It is available in three standard memory variants: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

Google has used a 1.7GHz dual core Exynos 5250 Cortex-A15 processor. The device gets further power from 2GB of RAM and Mali-T604 GPU. Just in keeping with recent rumors, it is said that Google will upgrade the tablet with a quad-processor and present it at MWC 2013 in Barcelona. The device is currently available in 16GB and 32GB variants.

  • Software
The Xperia Tablet Z come up with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is upgradeable to the most recent Android 4.2, while Google-owned Nexus 10 features Android 4.2 out of box. The Apple iPad 4 tablet runs the latest iOS 6, which was debuted with iPhone 5 last year.

Just personally, the amazing performance of iOS is virtually unsurpassed by Android, which could take the performance of hardware to extremes.

  • Camera
Some guys told me that it is almost worthless to talk about the camera on a tablet PC. You know, that may sound like an exaggeration to use the large slates for images taking. Just due to that fact, many mobile giants tend to quit boasting the camera on their tablets. However, Sony is an exception. It is generally known that Sony has included a full-fledged 8.1MP rear camera on its Xperia Tablet Z. There is no info available about the front camera of the device.

Both iPad 4 and Nexus 10 sport only 5MP rear cameras.

  • Battery
Among the devices in comparison, the Xperia Tablet Z has the least powerful battery. It packs a 6,000mAh battery, while Nexus 10 and iPad 4 respectively have 9,000mAh and 11,666 mAh batteries under the cover.

  • Price
Currently no selling price is available yet for Xperia Tablet Z. It is rumored that Sony is about to bring the device to market in Q1, 2013. Meanwhile, the base model of Nexus 10 is priced at just $399, while the base model of iPad 4 is priced at $499.

For more clearly comparison, a in-depth table is also provided for reference.

To sum up, actually it is a little bit stupid to judge a tablet whether good or not just based on their hardware features. Overall performance is the most important indicator. So, who is the king? Time will tell you! No matter you are Android fan or iOS fan, choose the one you love! Just in person, I tend to Google Nexus 10!
