With the launch of Microsoft Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8, 2012 gives birth to a whole new generation of WP8 and Windows 8 outfitted handheld devices such as Nokia Lumia 920, Windows Phone 8X by HTC, Samsung ATIV S, Windows Surface tablet, and Samsung ATIV Tab. As far as I know, currently so many makers are partnering with Microsoft and a huge list of WP8 and Windows 8 devices will comes out in near future, like touch-screen laptops, convertible laptops, hybrid devices, all-in-one desktops, tablets and many more. Now I have come with a new list of all noteworthy WP8 and Windows 8 portable devices in 2012. Read on to know more about all these devices for your Christmas gift options.
1. Nokia Lumia 920
The Nokia Lumia 920 is the new flagship smartphone of the Windows Phone 8 range and is based around a 4.5-inch screen with PureMotion HD+ display, 8.7-Megapixel PureView camera, 1280 x 768 screen resolution, Dolby audio, LTE, dual-core Qualcomm 1.5GHz processor, 2000mAh battery life and wireless charging, making it the most innovative smartphone out there today. I also know many of you have already placed Lumia 920 on your Christmas wish lists, so do I.
2. Windows Phone 8X by HTC
The Windows Phone 8X packs a 4.3-inch S-LCD2 display, with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor under the hood. There's an impressive 8MP camera with HTC's custom Image Chip technology on the back, and a very-wide-angle 2.1MP front-facing shooter on the other side. It will launch with 16GB of onboard memory, with no option for expansion. Its Beats audio is a nice touch for music fans. NFC support is carries as well.
3. Samsung ATIV S

The ATIV S features a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor inside. On the back there's an 8MP camera, and on the front a 1.9MP shooter. It will launch in two versions, one with 16GB of storage and another with 32GB. Perhaps the optional memory is the biggest advantages of ATIV S. You know, only Samsung ATIV S gives storage options among all Windows Phone 8 smartphones. Besides, you are able to expand the memory to 64GB thanks to a microSD card slot. It will also launch with NFC capabilities.
4. Windows Surface tablet
Microsoft takes its first, big step into the tablet market with its Windows Surface. The Microsoft Surface is a Windows 8 tablet with integrated stand and keyboard running on both ARM and Intel systems. It uses an Nvidia Tegra 3 ARM processor- the same chip found in Google Nexus 7 and Transformer infinity. It is also backed a whopping 2GB of RAM, which is double than most current ARM devices. 32GB and 64 GB of storage are also on board, which can be expanded to 128GB via a microSD card slot. Its 10.6-inch IPS screen with Full HD 1,920 x 1,080p resolution is also quite compelling. Surface RT starts at $499.

5. Samsung ATIV Tab
Samsung's Ativ Tab is the first Windows RT tablet PC. Inside is a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB storage (expandable to 64GB with an SD card). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera, and 1.9-megapixel front-facer. The screen is 10.1-inches, with a resolution of 1,366x768-pixels. There's Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a USB port and NFC, but no 3G or 4G connectivity. Far as I know, the Samsung ATIV Tab has accepted preorders on UK.
