Tablet Wars: Nexus 10 vs iPad 4 vs Windows Surface vs Kindle Fire HD 8.9

Just recently, Google has introduced a new 10-inch tablet to its flagship Nexus line, which officially called Nexus 10. As a device built by the cooperation between Google and Samsung, you will find that Nexus 10 picks up some design concepts from Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Note 10.1. So, we have enough reasons to believe this 10-inch Android tablet contains strong power to stack up against the newest iPad 4, Windows Surface and even the Kindle Fire HD 8.9. So, now let us take a look at the key features of all four tablets and then figure out which one is the finally king.

Screen resolution:
If you are seeking for a high quality screen, the Nexus 10 is undoubtedly the first choice. The screen resolution of the Nexus 10 is 2560 x 1600p for the 10-inch screen which comes to 300 pixels per inch beating iPad 4, Surface and Kindle Fire HD 8.9.

You know, the iPad 4 has a 2048×1536p resolution at 264 pixels per inch for a 9.7 inch screen. Surface features a 1,366 x 768p resolution at 148 pixels per inch for a 10.6 inch screen. Kindle Fire HD 8.9 includes a 1,920 x 1,200p resolution at 254 pixels per inch for an 8.9 inch screen.

Winner: Nexus 10.

Processors:
When it comes to the processing speed, Nexus 10 has a 1.7GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos processor with 2GB RAM, while iPad 4 has a dual-core A6X processor with unknown RAM; Surface includes a 1.5Ghz Quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU with 2GB RAM; Kindle Fire HD 8.9 features a dual-core 1.5GHz chip with 2GB RAM.

Although Apple does not reveal the RAM of iPad 4, it is widely believed iPad 4 is just with 1GB RAM. Based on the data, you might think Nexus 10 is the best one. However in my view, the phone speed cannot just be decided by its processor. The overall performance of a phone is the real determiner.

No winner here

Camera:
Based on official introduction, Nexus 10 has a 5MP rear camera and 1.9-megapixel front camera for video chat; iPad 4 comes with a 5MP rear camera and a 1.2MP front camera; Surface contains two 720p HD cameras and Kindle Fire HD 8.9 includes a HD front camera.

Winner: Nexus 10

Operating system:
The Nexus 10 ships with Android 4.2 and some new features like gesture typing are added. iPad 4 runs iOS 6 and supports the smart assistant Siri. Only considering Google Map, I think Nexus 7 is better than iPad 4. At least I will never use the stupid Apple Map.

With regard to Windows Surface, it comes with Microsoft's newest Windows 8 OS. However, the apps on Windows 8 platform are so poor. Well, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is just with Android 4.0.

Winner: Nexus 10

Connection:
The Nexus 10 and Surface support Wi-Fi but no 3G or 4G service, while iPad 4 and Kindle Fire HD 8.9 supports both 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi connections.

Winner: iPad 4 and Kindle Fire HD

Battery life:
Far as I know, Surface supports 8 hours of mixed activities; iPad 4 lasts 10 hours of video playback; both Nexus 10 and Kindle Fire HD 8.9 can be used for 9 hours video playback.

Winner: iPad 4

Price:
Nexus 10 starts at $399, while iPad 4 starts at $499, Surface starts at $499 and Kindle Fire HD starts at $299. Considering the cost and performance, undoubtedly Nexus 10 is the best one.

Winner: Nexus 10

To sum up, Nexus 10 and iPad 4 are the winners when comparing the performance.
In consideration of the high cost-effectiveness, Nexus 10 is the obvious winner.
Only take into account price, just choose Kindle Fire HD 8.9.
Okay, I will never recommend you using Windows Surface due to its high price and bad performance, only if you want to take a try on Windows 8 OS.

To make you more clear about all fours tablets, an in-depth table is provided for your reference:

Hey all buddies, happy Halloween! It is the spookiest time of a year again! Ready to be scared? Ha-ha, enjoy those creepy fun and take care of those tricks from your friends. Okay, get back to my topic now: Blu-ray and DVD releases this week. Below are all newest and most compelling releases on October 30, including Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection, Rosemary's Baby - Criterion Collection, Safety Not Guaranteed, The Campaign and Ruby Sparks.

1. Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection

It is really a thrilling thing to see all masterpieces from filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock finally hit stores by way of The Masterpiece Collection. This Blu-ray combo is priced at $224.86, while its DVD version released on 2005 is $89 in Amazon now. Also, This Blu-ray version combines 15 films including Saboteur, Shadow of a Doubt, Rope, Rear Window, The Trouble with Harry, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Vertigo, North by Northwest, Psycho, The Birds, Marnie, Torn Curtain, Topaz, Frenzy, and Family Plot. Have you found out all favorites? Far as I know, there are 13 films releasing in Blu-ray for the first time. Plus, 15 hours of bonus features are also the highlight of this masterpiece collection.

2. Rosemary's Baby - Criterion Collection

I have no doubt that Blu-ray collection of Rosemary's Baby is tailored for Halloween night. As Roman Polanski's psychological horror classic, DO NOT miss it on this Halloween night. This incredible film has ever warranted discussion again and again. It is also a landmark horror movie deserving your viewing. But make sure never take too high expectations to watch it. Like each horror Blu-ray disc you ever bought, Rosemary's Baby - Criterion Collection also includes some terrific extra features. You can also see some interviews with Polanski, Mia Farrow, and producer Robert Evans.

3. Safety Not Guaranteed

Safety Not Guaranteed is a small film with a big idea and an even bigger heart. It is also received a positive critical response this year. You know, 2012 is teeming with various high-budget films and seemingly low-budget movies are out of favor. However, Safety Not Guaranteed is an exception. It is a thought-provoking film that you may talk about it all time after leaving the theater. More fun you will get from Safety Not Guaranteed, more thoughts you will receive from it.

4. The Campaign

Quite funny movie, but I also should admit the story of The Campaign is a little bit stupid. I only recommend you to rent this film to get some jokes. Remember never buy it!

5. Ruby Sparks

As a romantic comedy, at this point I lack of any better words to talk about Ruby Sparks' terrible plot, bad performance…..All in all, I will never let anyone to see this movie. No expectations!

iPad Mini Release Date Confirmed! Top 4 iPad Mini Competitors Roundup

Just few days ago, Apple has sent invitations to media for a new product launch on October 23. It is supposed that the long-rumored iPad Mini will come into our sights. As what I said in my last post, there already exist so many excellent 7-inch tablets in the market like Google Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD, all of which completely block the way of iPad Mini. Only if Apple prices iPad Mini below $300, perhaps there is a chance for iPad Mini to become a hit.

If you plan to buy a handheld 7-inch tablet in the coming shopping season, actually there are loads of alluring options available now: the Kindle Fire HD that is just released by Amazon and the latest Barnes & Noble's NOOK HD, both of which comes with the same quality as iPad and the incredible low $199 price tags. Google's warmly received Nexus 7 is also a quite better choice, which runs the latest version of Android OS and also prices at $199. If you only concern about the price tag and meanwhile have no requirement on tablet hardware, last year's Kindle Fire is without doubt your taste, which has down to an unbelievable price of $159.

Since iPad Mini is facing such intense competition, below has listed all details of its strongest rivals of iPad Mini, which are possible to prevent iPad Mini from becoming the king in 7-inch tablet world.

Top 1: Kindle Fire HD

Scoring a runaway success with last year's Kindle Fire, it looks like that Amazon tends to make the second generation Kindle Fire HD the most compelling and feature-rich 7-inch tablet you can find on current market. This follow-up comes with a stunning 7-inch HD screen with 1280×800p resolution. So, you can benefit more from this tablet like rich color, deep contrast and even wide viewing angle. A 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM paired provides you the fast speed while doing multimedia. Other features like Dolby audio, Wi-Fi, front-facing HD camera, HDMI port, 16/32GB internal memory and a long battery life are so appealing as well. You can read unbelievable amounts of e-Books from Amazon library.

Top 2: Google Nexus 7

It is generally known that the Nexus 7 is outselling all other Android tablets after only three months of availability. Perhaps the key reason why so many people choose Nexus 7 is it packs with latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and sells extremely competitive price. The 7-inch tablet boasts a Quad-Core processor with 1GB of RAM, 8GB or 16GB of onboard storage, 1280 x 800 screen resolution, 1.2MP front-facing camera and nice performance battery. Other features like NFC, Wi-Fi are included. When I surf online, I find that the Nexus 7 is the one countless tech fans highly recommends.

Top 3: Barnes & Noble's NOOK HD

Apart from the Kindle Fire HD, Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Series, the Nook HD also join in the fight with iPad. Based on the official specs, you will find that the Nook HD boasts the highest screen resolution when compared to Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7: 1,440-by-900p. So, I am sure you will get a much better color rendering and contrast. Just like the Amazon, the Barnes & Noble also provides users bulk of e-Books for reading. After I browse through all features of NOOK HD, perhaps above listed two benefits are the only ones you can receive, and that is why I won't recommend this tablet for you. No camera packed, what a pity!

Top 4: Kindle Fire

Without doubt, the first generation Kindle Fire is the least competitive tablet for iPad Mini, except for its super-low price. If you just need a tablet PC for daily use and never care about the hardware, Kindle Fire is a good choice to buy a tablet for your kids or as a holiday present.

For those arranging to shop for a 7-inch tablet, here I suggest you wait until the October is over. You know, perhaps the best 7–inch tablets will advent with the best price. Okay, I should admit there is just with half of this probability.

To help you know the difference among these 4 tablets clearly, a comparison table is provided:

Moonrise Kingdom, Avatar 3D, Madagascar 3 Landing Blu-ray and DVD This Week

Here is a list covering all most anticipated Blu-ray and DVD releases on this week. Needless to say, Avatar, Moonrise Kingdom and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted are the brightest stars of this week. So many moviegoers are giving high marks to these three blockbusters.

1. Avatar (3D Blu-ray)

What a thrilling thing to know the Avatar 3D Blu-ray finally gets released to the masses! As you probably know, Avatar is released on 2D Blu-ray in 2010, while its 3D Blu-ray version is only available for those buying the Panasonic smart TVs. If you are eager to watch 3D Avatar at home, you can buy its Blu-ray version; for those who have already got a Panasonic TV, you have no need to waste your money.

2. Moonrise Kingdom

I should admit that the Moonrise Kingdom is my favorite film this year. Although it just tells a story about the young love between a boy and a girl, it is much deeper than you can image after viewing. So simple on the surface, but more you will get from it. Personally, I cannot describe what the Moonrise Kingdom exactly talks about, but it cannot prevent me falling in love with this romantic movie. What about you?

3. Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

All my favorite characters are back to home media in their most funning adventure! Whether you admit it or not, I should say that Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted really takes me by loads of laughs. Just pick up some funs from Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted.

Prometheus and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Anniversary Edition—Noteworthy Blu-ray and DVD Releases this Week

It goes without saying that the Steven Steven Spielberg’s E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Edition and the director Ridley Scott's science-fiction returning work Prometheus top on this week's Blu-ray and DVD releases, which make so many home media fans excited. You are the one of those?

1. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Anniversary Edition

To celebrate the Universal's 100th Anniversary, the Steven Spielberg's classic E.T. hits the stores with Blu-ray for the first time. DVD version is available as well. As one of the most successful films of all time, it first came out in 1982 and soon become a smash hit of the year. As you probably know, it has won 9 Academy Awards.

With a strange but quite heartwarming story, the E.T. is pretty suitable for home collection. From official announcements, apart from including the original film version, the releases of E.T also contains some extra features: 13-minute featurette called Steven Spielberg & ET, 54-minute featurette called The E.T. Journals that is comprised entirely of behind-the-scenes footage, deleted scenes, and more.

2. Prometheus

It is generally known that the director Ridlely Scott has a series of classics like Alien, Blade Runner, and perhaps that is main reason why all followers are so excited to see his return work Prometheus. It is totally 30 years later for us to see Ridley Scott delivering us a science-fiction film. Some buffs consider that the Prometheus is a quite great work, while others hold the different ideas. They view the Prometheus as a disappointed prequel. Well, no matter what kinds of opinions you are keeping, here we get a chance to re-consider this film: it will be available Oct. 11 on DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and on demand.

Like all other Blu-ray and DVD releases, the Prometheus also packs some extra features like deleted and alternate scenes, alternate opening and ending, and some featurettes.

3. The Raven

I should admit that I have not seen The Raven yet. After checking out loads of reference, I think the movie has a quite cool story: the man Edgar Allen Poe tries to solve a serial killer case in the final days of his life. If you are the John Cusack fan, you can focus on the Blu-ray and DVD releases of The Raven.

4. Rock of Ages

Once you see a whole list of super acting stars on Rock of Ages, you must consider this is movie deserving watch. However, you are totally wrong! Perhaps the Rock of Ages is one of the most remarkable movies you have seen, it is also one of the worst movie I have ever watch! Well, the performance from Tom Cruise is great, that's the only thing I can agree with.

Other films hit the stores in Blu-ray and DVD this week:

1. Dial M for Murder
2. Strangers on a Train
