Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection, Rosemary's Baby and Safety Not Guaranteed are This Week's Top New Blu-ray and DVD Releases

Hey all buddies, happy Halloween! It is the spookiest time of a year again! Ready to be scared? Ha-ha, enjoy those creepy fun and take care of those tricks from your friends. Okay, get back to my topic now: Blu-ray and DVD releases this week. Below are all newest and most compelling releases on October 30, including Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection, Rosemary's Baby - Criterion Collection, Safety Not Guaranteed, The Campaign and Ruby Sparks.

1. Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection

It is really a thrilling thing to see all masterpieces from filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock finally hit stores by way of The Masterpiece Collection. This Blu-ray combo is priced at $224.86, while its DVD version released on 2005 is $89 in Amazon now. Also, This Blu-ray version combines 15 films including Saboteur, Shadow of a Doubt, Rope, Rear Window, The Trouble with Harry, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Vertigo, North by Northwest, Psycho, The Birds, Marnie, Torn Curtain, Topaz, Frenzy, and Family Plot. Have you found out all favorites? Far as I know, there are 13 films releasing in Blu-ray for the first time. Plus, 15 hours of bonus features are also the highlight of this masterpiece collection.

2. Rosemary's Baby - Criterion Collection

I have no doubt that Blu-ray collection of Rosemary's Baby is tailored for Halloween night. As Roman Polanski's psychological horror classic, DO NOT miss it on this Halloween night. This incredible film has ever warranted discussion again and again. It is also a landmark horror movie deserving your viewing. But make sure never take too high expectations to watch it. Like each horror Blu-ray disc you ever bought, Rosemary's Baby - Criterion Collection also includes some terrific extra features. You can also see some interviews with Polanski, Mia Farrow, and producer Robert Evans.

3. Safety Not Guaranteed

Safety Not Guaranteed is a small film with a big idea and an even bigger heart. It is also received a positive critical response this year. You know, 2012 is teeming with various high-budget films and seemingly low-budget movies are out of favor. However, Safety Not Guaranteed is an exception. It is a thought-provoking film that you may talk about it all time after leaving the theater. More fun you will get from Safety Not Guaranteed, more thoughts you will receive from it.

4. The Campaign

Quite funny movie, but I also should admit the story of The Campaign is a little bit stupid. I only recommend you to rent this film to get some jokes. Remember never buy it!

5. Ruby Sparks

As a romantic comedy, at this point I lack of any better words to talk about Ruby Sparks' terrible plot, bad performance…..All in all, I will never let anyone to see this movie. No expectations!

Hey buddies, welcome back to the special roundup of This Week on Blu-ray and DVD releases. Without doubt, there are some surprising big-screen hits land on Blu-ray and DVD like the Blade Runner, Abraham Lincoln, Magic Mike. Let us check out below lists!

1. Blade Runner

If you are the follower of Prometheus, I bet you will fall in love with another sci-fi works from the director Ridley Scott: Blade Runner. Not surprisingly, now Blade Runner has spotted on CNET's top 40 must-have Blu-ray discs. As one of the greatest movie in genre history, actually Blade Runner did not do well at the box office. However, it has an great impact on the modern films like The Dark Knight Rises. So, all you guys have reason to get excited with its imminent release of the 30th anniversary Blu-ray version: a four-disc Blu-ray and a three-disc Blu-ray on October 23.

2. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Undoubtedly, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is the best film I have ever seen on such kind of subject – unless there is a sequel. It is also a more entertaining movie than you can imagine. If you are interested in the Seth Grahame-Smith novel as well as the President Lincoln, you can buy its Blu-ray version for home entertainment.

3. Magic Mike

Are you made ready to bring Magic Mike home? We have known that it will come to home media with the Blu-ray and DVD releases on October 23. As the director Steven Soderbergh's well-reviewed movie, it talks about the American Dream just through the eyes of a male stripper. Like other Blu-ray releases, it also contains certain extra features.

Moonrise Kingdom, Avatar 3D, Madagascar 3 Landing Blu-ray and DVD This Week

Here is a list covering all most anticipated Blu-ray and DVD releases on this week. Needless to say, Avatar, Moonrise Kingdom and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted are the brightest stars of this week. So many moviegoers are giving high marks to these three blockbusters.

1. Avatar (3D Blu-ray)

What a thrilling thing to know the Avatar 3D Blu-ray finally gets released to the masses! As you probably know, Avatar is released on 2D Blu-ray in 2010, while its 3D Blu-ray version is only available for those buying the Panasonic smart TVs. If you are eager to watch 3D Avatar at home, you can buy its Blu-ray version; for those who have already got a Panasonic TV, you have no need to waste your money.

2. Moonrise Kingdom

I should admit that the Moonrise Kingdom is my favorite film this year. Although it just tells a story about the young love between a boy and a girl, it is much deeper than you can image after viewing. So simple on the surface, but more you will get from it. Personally, I cannot describe what the Moonrise Kingdom exactly talks about, but it cannot prevent me falling in love with this romantic movie. What about you?

3. Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

All my favorite characters are back to home media in their most funning adventure! Whether you admit it or not, I should say that Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted really takes me by loads of laughs. Just pick up some funs from Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted.

Prometheus and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Anniversary Edition—Noteworthy Blu-ray and DVD Releases this Week

It goes without saying that the Steven Steven Spielberg’s E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Edition and the director Ridley Scott's science-fiction returning work Prometheus top on this week's Blu-ray and DVD releases, which make so many home media fans excited. You are the one of those?

1. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Anniversary Edition

To celebrate the Universal's 100th Anniversary, the Steven Spielberg's classic E.T. hits the stores with Blu-ray for the first time. DVD version is available as well. As one of the most successful films of all time, it first came out in 1982 and soon become a smash hit of the year. As you probably know, it has won 9 Academy Awards.

With a strange but quite heartwarming story, the E.T. is pretty suitable for home collection. From official announcements, apart from including the original film version, the releases of E.T also contains some extra features: 13-minute featurette called Steven Spielberg & ET, 54-minute featurette called The E.T. Journals that is comprised entirely of behind-the-scenes footage, deleted scenes, and more.

2. Prometheus

It is generally known that the director Ridlely Scott has a series of classics like Alien, Blade Runner, and perhaps that is main reason why all followers are so excited to see his return work Prometheus. It is totally 30 years later for us to see Ridley Scott delivering us a science-fiction film. Some buffs consider that the Prometheus is a quite great work, while others hold the different ideas. They view the Prometheus as a disappointed prequel. Well, no matter what kinds of opinions you are keeping, here we get a chance to re-consider this film: it will be available Oct. 11 on DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and on demand.

Like all other Blu-ray and DVD releases, the Prometheus also packs some extra features like deleted and alternate scenes, alternate opening and ending, and some featurettes.

3. The Raven

I should admit that I have not seen The Raven yet. After checking out loads of reference, I think the movie has a quite cool story: the man Edgar Allen Poe tries to solve a serial killer case in the final days of his life. If you are the John Cusack fan, you can focus on the Blu-ray and DVD releases of The Raven.

4. Rock of Ages

Once you see a whole list of super acting stars on Rock of Ages, you must consider this is movie deserving watch. However, you are totally wrong! Perhaps the Rock of Ages is one of the most remarkable movies you have seen, it is also one of the worst movie I have ever watch! Well, the performance from Tom Cruise is great, that's the only thing I can agree with.

Other films hit the stores in Blu-ray and DVD this week:

1. Dial M for Murder
2. Strangers on a Train
3. Little Shop of Horrors: Director’s Cut
4. Red Dawn
5. Cinderella
6. Dark Shadows (Movie Only + UltraViolet Digital Copy)
7. A Cat in Paris
8. Werewolf: The Beast Among Us
9. Dead Ringer
10. Shut Up and Play the Hits

Pay continually attentions on my list of week's Blu-ray and DVD releases!

The Avengers, Bond 50 and Batman Top This Week's DVD and Blu-ray Releases

It seems as if this week is pretty busy for Blu-ray and DVD releases. Personally, I am so excited to see the announcement of The Avengers. Until now, I still can not believe that I have missed it when hitting the theaters. Apart from The Avengers, the Bond 50: The Complete 22 Film Collection and the Part 1 of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns also hit the stores. Let us check out the details:

The Avengers

Seemingly I am the only person on the planet who hadn't seen The Avengers in this summer. There was a time that all my friends discussed this blockbuster everyday. Admittedly, this all-star superhero epic is a must-see one among all kinds of summer releases. If you are the one like me sadly missing out this movie, here comes an exciting news, it will arrive at home in the forms of Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and four-disc combo that includes the 3D Blu-ray, 2D Blu-ray, DVD, digital copy, and digital music download. So, do not hesitate to grasp this rare chance to see The Avengers with Home Theater System.

The Blu-ray and DVD are available on September 25th.

Bond 50: The Complete 22 Film Collection

Although there is just one month left for the anticipated release of Skyfall, the MGM still decides to announce all 22 previous films in the long-running James Bond franchise with an ultimate collection set. The box includes the Bond movies from 1962's Dr. No to 2008's Quantum of Solace on Blu-ray, the 130 hours bonus features and some new, exclusive contents. By the way, the Bond 50 Blu-ray collection has an open slot for Skyfall, so you can add it when that film is released.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1

The comic animated film Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 is also available on DVD and Blu-ray on September 25th. It is widely considered that it changes the way people to look at Batman and comics in general. Originated from Frank Miller's 1986 four-issue prestige series, the movie perfectly adapts the first two issues of the series and you still can see full Frank Miller' style in this adapted film. If you're a fan of Batman and the DC original animated movies, there's no doubt that you will desire to add the Blu-ray and DVD of Batman Part 1 releases to your collection. Meanwhile, more than likely we need to wait for a few months for its Part 2.

The above listed 3 movies are the ones you have to focus on this week. Also, you can check out below roundup for the other releases. All these discs can be purchased on Amazon with quite decent prices.
American Horror Story (2011 miniseries)
American President, The (1995 romantic dramedy)
Dave (1993 comedy-romance)
Damsels in Distress (2011 romantic dramedy)
Klown (2010 Danish comedy)

4. Ed Wood  [Blu-ray]

Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Judge Dredd onto Blu-ray for the first time ever on September 18.

Disney tends to announce some of its old but classic films this year and Ed Wood is one of them. Ed Wood is widely considered as the one of the best works in Tim Burton’s career, which has ever won two Oscar awards. The special features in this Blu-ray discs includes 5 deleted scenes, an audio commentary from Burton and featurettes covering Howard Shore’s score. Personally, this black-and-white movie is deserving of our re-see in home theater.

5. Supernatural: The Complete Seventh Season [Blu-ray]

Supernatural: The Complete Seventh Season starts to be released on Blu-ray on September 18. There is no denying that the Supernatural is a great series, but Season 7 is not the best season. If you like, you can choose to buy them for entertainment. The four-disc Blu-ray contains all 23 episodes of Supernatural's seventh season.

6. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel[Blu-ray]

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel will be hitting Blu-ray and DVD on September 18. This charming movie is the one I highly recommend you to watch, as it tells us all how to deal with the issues we will meet in our daily life like love, life and learning. Perhaps this movie will be liked by those older film fans, but do not let age discrimination keep you away from this wonderful movie.

7. Judge Dredd [Blu-ray]

Although the Judge Dredd adapted by director Danny Cannon can only be described as cheesy, if you happen to the fans of this movie, here you get a chance to review this film after released on September 21. 10. Katy Perry The Movie: Part of Me (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy)

Katy Perry The Movie: Part of Me is actually a documentary concert film centering on the singer Katy Perry. Although it wins positive reviews from critics, the box office performs under expectations. Titanic, Snow White and Huntsman, Lola Versus Hit the Shelves on DVD and Blu-ray This Week

This week, there are totally 3 movies on the list of  DVD and Blu-ray releases, which includes the Titanic, Snow White and Huntsman, Lola Versus. Among all of them, Titanic is my most anticipated one, what about you?

Far as I know, a lineup of Hollywood blockbusters will come this fall. The Titanic is just one of them and it has hit the stores yesterday, with the release of digitally re-mastered DVD, common Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D. Personally, nothing on earth can rival with the epic spectacle and breathtaking grandeur of Titanic. So, you have no reason to miss out buying those Titanic discs for forever keeping.

The Snow White and Huntsman is widely regarded as a mash-up between fairy tale and a big battle epic, with a fantasy but violence theme. Although this film earns a fairly decent amount at the box office, seemingly all global eyes tend to focus on the gossip between the actor and director and the film is totally overshadowed. Thankfully, there comes a chance for us to re-consider the film itself with the release of DVD/Blu-ray versions on September 11. All digital copies are jam-packed with plenty of extras for the fans, if you are interested in, just go and purchase one!

Well, the Blu-ray/DVD copies of romantic comedy Lola Versus have been released yesterday. As a critics disliked film that just bringing in $252,603 at the box office, will you get it to your shelves?
