6 Best Smartphones with Wireless Charging Capability 2013

Look Ma, no wires! Although wireless charging is nothing new, it is now catching on with smartphones. As an increasing number of smartphone makers are starting to add wireless charging capabilities to their flagship handsets, you could throw away your MicroUSB pot and just drop your phone right on a charging mat to give it juice! The Qi wireless charging tech allows power to be transferred from a charging mat or even a speaker dock to a smartphone's battery.

While the future of its popularity still hangs in the air, I still round up the best smartphones that are available now and feature this growing technology. Ready to cut the cord? Now check out what smartphones are provided with wireless charging capability

1. Samsung Galaxy S4

Just in line with Samsung, Galaxy S4 will be introduced with wireless charging option in selected regions. And you need to place your smartphone on wireless charger pad or cover to charge your phone.

Launched on March 14th, 2013, Samsung Galaxy S4 is not just a smartphone as the South Korean giant has powered this device amazing features to call it as life companion. As the first phone with Octa-core processor, it sports a 5-inch display and is also the successor of Galaxy S3 - the best selling Android phone.

2. Nokia Lumia 920

If anything has to be talked about Nokia Lumia 920, surely it is the capabilities of wireless charging through Qi technology. The 4.5-inch dual core smartphone requires wireless charging Pad to charge your phone. It is the flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone and also the most selling WP8 phone as well. Unlike Galaxy S4, wireless charging pad is available worldwide.

Nokia is already selling three types of wireless charger as accessory, flat charger, Fatboy pillow charger and also charging and NFC enabled stand. The energy-efficient wireless chargers come in all shapes, sizes and colour's, so you can pick one to match your phone. Best of all, they’re all Qi-compatible, which means you can use any wireless charger you like.

3. Google Nexus 4

Any devices that wears Google's Nexus badge should signal that it has cutting edge tech under the hood. The Google Nexus 4 delivers with a gorgeous 4.7-inch 1280-by-768 IPS Plus display, a 1.5-GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM. The Google Now improvements on this Android 4.2 Jelly Bean phone are especially delicious. Qi wireless charging is just the icing on the cake. Google will offer a Wireless Charging Orb, but you'll also be able to use other Qi accessories.

4. HTC Droid DNA

Droid DNA from HTC is actually a device made for Verizon network and its international version (HTC Butterfly) does not feature wireless charging. So basically this feature is limited to US only.

As the first US smartphone to sport a 1080p display, the 5-inch Droid DNA is a beautiful beast of a handset. This phone delivers quad-core power, a sharp and fast 8-MP camera and Beats Audio in a relatively slim design. The DNA's 2,020 mAh battery will get you roughly 6.5 hours of battery life on 4G. And when it's time to replenish you can use any compatible Qi-enabled device.

5. HTC Windows Phone 8X

Yes, you can get the Windows Phone 8X on AT&T and T-Mobile, but only the Verizon Wireless version offers wireless charging functionality. 8X offers almost all features of a high end phone with lots of color options as well.

It has a 4.3 inch display and runs on 1.5 GHz quad dual core processor. It has Windows 8 operating system and 1 GB RAM which is sufficient for the normal working. 8 MP snapper enables you to capture impressive images and record HD videos. The battery rating is 1800 MAh and you can charge it with Qi technology with chargers like the Energizer Inductive Charger.

6. LG Spectrum 2

With a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 IPS display and a dual-core 1.5-GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, the LG Spectrum 2 is a solid $99 Android smartphone for Verizon customers. DLNA compatibility and a built-in NFC chip give the Spectrum 2 the kind of features normally found on high-end devices. Add to that a Qi-compatible wireless charging chip built into the Spectrum 2's back panel and an optional charging pad and you have a compelling value.

Okay, that's all my collections for the best  wireless charging smartphones. Which one you are holding now? Which one you are planning to get? Show your ideas!

Sony Xperia Z vs HTC Droid DNA vs Samsung Galaxy S3: Specs Showdown

With more and more large-sized Android smartphone emerged in the market, consumer just like you must be smart in choosing the optimal smartphone to match your daily needs: entertainment, multimedia, social networking, web browsing, etc. Bear in mind that just choose the device based on your real purpose of owning a smartphone.

Everybody has already known that Sony just unleashed its latest Android flagship device Xperia Z. To see how it stacks up, I have put it against two established kings of Google’s castle, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC Droid DNA. Also, I have run the three against each other in the specs list table below for easier comparison.

How does Sony’s latest flagship Android device compare to its peers? Take a gander at my comparison, spec sheet and see for yourself.

  • Display
Galaxy S3 boasts a sizeable 4.8-inch Super AMOLED touch display with a 1280x720p resolution at 306 ppi. Frankly, the picture quality of Galaxy S3 is a little lower. However, it is still plenty sharp for most uses. The contrast and brightness are good and color are rich.

The touchscreen of Xperia Z is bit bigger, it's a 5-inch LCD with a 1920x1080p HD resolution clocking in at an impressive 443ppi. The display delivers good brightness and also uses OptiContrast technology for deeper blacks along with the Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 2 for improved color and saturation.

HTC Droid DNA has the same 5-inch screen size and resolution as the Xperia Z. The difference is Xperia Z has TFT screen with Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, Shatter proof and scratch-resistant glass protection, while HTC Driod DNA has Super LCD3 with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection, HTC Sense UI 4+.

Considering the special waterproof feature, the winner on this round – Sony Xperia Z

  • Processor and Memory
Sony Xperia Z comes with 1.5 GHz Quad core Snapdragon S4 CPU, while HTC Droid DNA also powered by 1.5 GHz Quad core Snapdragon S4 CPU. In terms of memory, both of them have 2GB RAM and 16GB internal ROM storage memory and up to 32GB expandable via MicroSD card.

The Galaxy S3 is fitted with Samsung’s own Exynos quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz with 1GB of RAM. Samsung offers the Galaxy S3 in both 16GB and 32GB options, with microSD capability for high-capacity cards up to 64GB.

Actually, speed is quite important to a mobile and removes your worrying on slowdown, especially wanting to do more multi-task or play high-end game. So, this round winners – Sony Xperia Z and HTC Droid DNA.

  • Camera
This is a big battle section among three models. Sony Xperia Z sports a 13MP rear camera and 2.2MP front camera. It also supports 1080p video recording. As it has water resistant support, users could take some beautiful snaps like fish under water.

HTC Droid DNA comes with 8MP rear camera and 2.1MP front camera, while Galaxy S3 is packed with an 8MP camera and 1.9MP front face. Both support 1080p video recording.

Obviously, this round winner – Sony Xperia Z

  • Price and release date

Xperia Z is announced at CES 2013 event and is expected to be on sale on first quarter of 2013. Price is rumored to be equal with Galaxy Note 2.

HTC Droid DNA is announced at December 2012, while Samsung Galaxy S3 is released on May 2012. Both are available for a starting price of $199.

It the rumored price of Sony Xperia Z is true, most likely it will let its followers down. Personally, no winner here.

  • Final thoughts
Other features like battery, connectivity, software are nearly the same, so I will never take them as comparison. Actually the new Xperia Z stacks up quite well against the competition. It pulls head of the Galaxy S3 and HTC Droid DNA in quite a few aspects.

Xperia Z matches the HTC device’s high-resolution display and quad-core processor. In terms of camera and battery life, Xperia Z takes the lead. The camera is to be expected, especially with Sony’s intense focus on photography. Nevertheless, a slightly better camera and improved battery life doesn’t exactly blow the competition out of the water. As usual, only time will tell whether or not Sony can pull off the impossible and take the lead on the Android front.

Images of HTC Deluxe DLX Leaked with Various Color Options

We have to admit that the HTC Droid DNA is the hottest mobile phone of late and have already earned so many praises. It is said DNA enjoys great popularity after officially launched on Version earlier this week. Most likely you now have placed the HTC Droid DNA in your wish list. Well, for guys living outside the US but eager to own HTC Droid DNA, the cool news is coming: its international version---HTC Deluxe DLX is not far behind!

To start with, let us check out all leaked photos of HTC Deluxe DLX. Seemingly, it will be available in three colors: white, black and brown. Which color is your favorite?
Making mention of the outfitted stuffs, since the HTC Deluxe DLX is the new brother of the US-bound HTC Droid DNA, it should come with the following insides. Possibly, there will be some changes when it is officially announced.
  • SLCD3 1080p with a mind-blowing 440ppi density
  • Qualcomm S4 Pro 1.5GHz quad-core CPU
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 8MP camera rear-facing camera capable of 1080p at 30fps
  • f/2.0 2.1 MP Front-facing camera capable of 720p
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Sense 4+ on top
  • 4G LTE
  • 2.5v headset and speaker amplifier with Beats Audio
  • 2020 mAh Battery
  • 9.1mm thin

Face-to-face, this is a device that I am long anticipated and it could perfectly replace my old iPhone 4S. Certainly, the Nexus 4 is also a great choice but it seems that it is unobtainable by most of us across the globe. The 1080p display and ultra-fast S4 CPU of HTC Deluxe DLX makes it really an appealing device.

Talking about its release date, since the Black Friday is slipping away, it appears that this phone will not see the light of day this year. So I bet the most likely time to launch this flagship smartphone will be on NWC 2013. And now various sources mention that more infos regarding on this mobile will be unveiled on December 6th, so let us stay tuned! Additionally,  prepare your money to get it!
