HTC One vs Samsung Galaxy S3: How HTC's Latest Superphone Stacks up

At long last, the much-talk-about HTC One (ever dubbed as HTC M7 before) is finally here! This new flagship smartphone from HTC wowed us at the launch events in New York thanks to its slick looks and premium features including the 1.7GHz quuad-core processor, Near Field Communication, LTE mobile broadband, stereo speakers, 4.7-inch screen with a 468 pixel-per-inch resolution and a 4 "ultrapixels" camera.

It is well-known that the advent of HTC One aims at battling head on with some of popular smartphones in the market just like Samsung Galaxy S3, which is tagged as the best-selling smartphone of the second and third quarter of 2012. Is this new device the real killer for Galaxy S3? I know many of you are fixing the eyes on this fierce battle, so now just follow me to see how HTC's latest mobile HTC One stacks up against Samsung's flagship Galaxy S3.

Screen

HTC One has a 4.7-inch HD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and its screen packs in an unbelievable 468 pixel-per-inch resolution, while Galaxy S3 features a 4.8-inch screen with 306 pixel-per-inch, at a resolution of 720 x 1280.

HTC's display is a little bit smaller, but it packs many more pixels. In person, screen over 320 pixels/inch is invincible.

Processor

HTC One is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.7 GHz. Samsung's smartphone packs its own 1.4 GHz quad core Exynos processor for international version, Snapdragon S4 dual core at 1.5GHz for the US version.

It is well-known that HTC One is one of the first Snapdragon 600 devices and Qualcomm says that its new CPU promises unprecedented performance per watt, potentially delivering great battery life. In such a case, the HTC one wins the prize.

RAM

The HTC One's 2GB of RAM match the North American Galaxy S3 but double the global edition's 1GB.

Camera

HTC One packed a 4 ultrapixels rear camera that promises clearer and more vivid pictures compared to Samsung Galaxy S3's 8 megapixels shooter.

As you probably know, the killer feature on HTC One is its 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" camera, which could capture more light than conventional smartphone shooters. The lens also boasts a maximum aperture of f/2.0, which allows more light through to the 1/3-inch backlit-CMOS sensor, which should translate to better low-light performance.

Battery

HTC One has a 2300 mAh embedded rechargeable Li-polymer battery compared to Galaxy S3's 2100 mAh battery.

Storage

Samsung sells the Galaxy S3 in three different storage options, while the One comes in two. Only the Galaxy S3 allow you to expand its storage with a microSD card.

Wireless

If your carrier offers LTE, then both phones will ride the speedy network. LTE is becoming more commonplace, and the Nexus 4 may be the last high-end device that doesn't support it.

Operating System

On the software front, the HTC One will come with Android v4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS right out of the box. Some Samsung Galaxy S3 owners, especially those who bought the device through a carrier are still waiting for the update in their handsets.

Based on above review, you must find that HTC has made a phone with premium design, cutting-edge specs and some genuinely-intriguing software features. If the company throws all of its weight into marketing HTC One, surely HTC One will win the war and HTC will get back its market share from Samsung. Its  HTC's time to shine!

Finally, what about your opinion on the fight between HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S3? Which one is your favor? Show your thoughts below!

Sony Xperia Z vs HTC Droid DNA vs Samsung Galaxy S3: Specs Showdown

With more and more large-sized Android smartphone emerged in the market, consumer just like you must be smart in choosing the optimal smartphone to match your daily needs: entertainment, multimedia, social networking, web browsing, etc. Bear in mind that just choose the device based on your real purpose of owning a smartphone.

Everybody has already known that Sony just unleashed its latest Android flagship device Xperia Z. To see how it stacks up, I have put it against two established kings of Google’s castle, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC Droid DNA. Also, I have run the three against each other in the specs list table below for easier comparison.

How does Sony’s latest flagship Android device compare to its peers? Take a gander at my comparison, spec sheet and see for yourself.

  • Display
Galaxy S3 boasts a sizeable 4.8-inch Super AMOLED touch display with a 1280x720p resolution at 306 ppi. Frankly, the picture quality of Galaxy S3 is a little lower. However, it is still plenty sharp for most uses. The contrast and brightness are good and color are rich.

The touchscreen of Xperia Z is bit bigger, it's a 5-inch LCD with a 1920x1080p HD resolution clocking in at an impressive 443ppi. The display delivers good brightness and also uses OptiContrast technology for deeper blacks along with the Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 2 for improved color and saturation.

HTC Droid DNA has the same 5-inch screen size and resolution as the Xperia Z. The difference is Xperia Z has TFT screen with Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, Shatter proof and scratch-resistant glass protection, while HTC Driod DNA has Super LCD3 with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection, HTC Sense UI 4+.

Considering the special waterproof feature, the winner on this round – Sony Xperia Z

  • Processor and Memory
Sony Xperia Z comes with 1.5 GHz Quad core Snapdragon S4 CPU, while HTC Droid DNA also powered by 1.5 GHz Quad core Snapdragon S4 CPU. In terms of memory, both of them have 2GB RAM and 16GB internal ROM storage memory and up to 32GB expandable via MicroSD card.

The Galaxy S3 is fitted with Samsung’s own Exynos quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz with 1GB of RAM. Samsung offers the Galaxy S3 in both 16GB and 32GB options, with microSD capability for high-capacity cards up to 64GB.

Actually, speed is quite important to a mobile and removes your worrying on slowdown, especially wanting to do more multi-task or play high-end game. So, this round winners – Sony Xperia Z and HTC Droid DNA.

  • Camera
This is a big battle section among three models. Sony Xperia Z sports a 13MP rear camera and 2.2MP front camera. It also supports 1080p video recording. As it has water resistant support, users could take some beautiful snaps like fish under water.

HTC Droid DNA comes with 8MP rear camera and 2.1MP front camera, while Galaxy S3 is packed with an 8MP camera and 1.9MP front face. Both support 1080p video recording.

Obviously, this round winner – Sony Xperia Z

  • Price and release date

Xperia Z is announced at CES 2013 event and is expected to be on sale on first quarter of 2013. Price is rumored to be equal with Galaxy Note 2.

HTC Droid DNA is announced at December 2012, while Samsung Galaxy S3 is released on May 2012. Both are available for a starting price of $199.

It the rumored price of Sony Xperia Z is true, most likely it will let its followers down. Personally, no winner here.

  • Final thoughts
Other features like battery, connectivity, software are nearly the same, so I will never take them as comparison. Actually the new Xperia Z stacks up quite well against the competition. It pulls head of the Galaxy S3 and HTC Droid DNA in quite a few aspects.

Xperia Z matches the HTC device’s high-resolution display and quad-core processor. In terms of camera and battery life, Xperia Z takes the lead. The camera is to be expected, especially with Sony’s intense focus on photography. Nevertheless, a slightly better camera and improved battery life doesn’t exactly blow the competition out of the water. As usual, only time will tell whether or not Sony can pull off the impossible and take the lead on the Android front.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Release Date Rumors & What to Expect

In recent times, the rumors regarding on Samsung's next-generation flagship Galaxy S4 reaching a fever pitch. Masses of reports suggest that this mobile will be unveiled at some point next year with boasting a 13-megapixel camera, new quad-core Exynos Adonis processor built using 28nm technology, and 5-inch Super AMOLED display with full HD (1920×1080) resolution, making it on par with the HTC Droid DNA. So here let us take a look at what we features and specs could expect from Galaxy S4.
Galaxy S4 – Design
Now since mobile makers are in a race to see who could make the biggest, slimmest and lightest devices, so what to expect is that the Galaxy S4 will bigger, slimmer and lighter than S3, and hopefully S4 is built with far better quality materials.

Galaxy S4 – Display
Latest reports point out that Galaxy S4 will features a 5-inch full HD 1920x1080 pixel display that’ll pack in a staggering pixel density of 441ppi. Samsung is also reported to use flexible OLED panels rather than glass setups aboard its next flagship, although whether this actually turns out to be the case remains to be seen.

Galaxy S4 – Processor
It is said that Samsung will showcase a dual quad-core mobile process at the International Solid-Stat Circuits Conference in February next year. The System-on-Chip (SoC) is a 28nm chip, with one quad-core cluster running at 1.8GHz for high performance apps, and the other running at 1.2GHz for energy efficiency. Based on an ARM A15 Cortex setup, this chipset is widely believed to be the one that will power Samsung’s Galaxy S4. We all know that Galaxy S4 is the biggest release next year, Samsung is sure to not lunch a new flagship with its current processor chip. It is not Samsung's style. So let us stay tuned to see the coming of Samsung's flagship, with the new Exynos-branded ARM A15-based SoC capable of staggering processing power.

Galaxy S4 – Storage
Most likely that Galaxy S4 will have three versions: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, all of which with SD support. As you probably know, Samsung has kicked off its its 10nm 64GB eMMC memory chip, and already putting this 64GB chip to use inside a new black variant of its Galaxy S3, which is due to launch in the UK later this month. That means the top-end Galaxy S4 will follow this trend and finally get a 64GB version plus with SD-support.

Galaxy S4 – Camera
According to multiple sources, the Galaxy S4 will features a 13-megapixel Sony Exmore RS sensor, which means that there will be a truly high-end camera built into Samsung's next-generation flagship and Galaxy S4 will have one of the best shooters on the market.

Galaxy S4 – LTE
As I said before, LTE is the trend of future network, so there can be no doubt that Samsung will outfit 4G LTE on Galaxy S4, just Samsung ever does with Galaxy S3 and Note 2.

Galaxy S4– Battery Life
We already know that the S3's 2100mAh blows S2 out of the water, so the battery life on S4 should totally beat the S3. Motorola has proven that it is just a piece of cake to pack a 3,300mAh power into RAZR Maxx, we are highly expect Samsung will bring us with more surprise on its next Galaxy S4.

Galaxy S4 – Release Date
It seems more than likely that Samsung will release the Galaxy S4 at NWC 2012, instead focusing on the launch in May 2013. You know, nearly every year Samsung chooses that time to announce its top handset.

Having said that, I bet there will be a few leaked images relating to the Galaxy S4 during NWC 2013 and CES 2013. So, let us wait for a while to get the closest to the truth.
