Top 10 Valentine's Day Movies for the Lovestruck in 2013

Have you ever been in a situation when a holiday was approaching and you felt that watching a movie or two about that holiday to increase the excitement? That happens to me all the time! Therefore, I decided to share with you guys my top 10 Valentine's Day movies. Some of the movies are about Valentine's Day, while others are just romantic comedies, but hey - Valentine's Day is a day for romance! Keep in mind though, I, personally, prefer old movies, so do not get mad at me if some of your favorite new movies are not on the list. Additionally, I have not seen plenty of the romantic movies; therefore, this list is going to be subjective.

1. Titanic (1997)

I do believe there is no single person in this world who has never heard of Titanic. It's a love story that transcends class, circumstance and even life. The love between Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet ever moved us lots and this movie has been titled one of the best movies of all. The movie has won 11 oscars, 78 other awards, and has been nominated for 43 awards more. What makes Titanic even more outstanding is the fact that it is partially based on a true story - there was a ship called Titanic. However, the character and the love story is fiction.

If you have not seen this movie before, right now is a perfect time to go and grab the movie out of the shelf - it is one of the best love stories ever shot!

2. Love Actually (2003)

It is a movie about a ton of love stories. Some of them might be kind of messy, complicated, twisty and confusing, but that's love. Personally, I like this type of movies. People lives get twisted around one another, but in the end it all becomes clear. So for Valentine's Day, it is totally appropriate.

3. The Notebook (2004)

While watching "The Notebook", the movie might remind you of Romeo and Juliet. However, what the difference is that The Notebook is a movie making you believe in love again. It tells a story of 2 lovers who meet in 1940 and are kept apart over time and distance. Fortunately, the two lovers finally find each other and decide to be together for the rest of their lives. The love story shows you can be away from the one you love for years. If your love is really strong you will make it.

4. Twilight (2008)

Scoff if you must, but Twilight is much more than a vampire story. Ask any Twilight fanatic and they will tell you that the entire Stephenie Meyer series is a passionate romantic tale of two hearts who find each other despite their varying backgrounds. He's a vampire and she's not.

5. Pretty Woman  (1990)

Anyone who doubts a movie about a prostitute could be a sweet romance is proved wrong by Pretty Woman. Julia Roberts plays a prostitute named Vivian, who never fitted into the world of prostitution. Edward Lewis played By Richard Gere, is an unhappy successfully businessman. Vivian and Edaward came together by mistake and fate. This movie is a classic love story, two people finding love coming from two different backgrounds. The movie shows no matter what happens in your life you can always find true love.

6. Notting Hill (1999)

William Thacker, an unsuccessful Notting Hill bookstore owner, meets Anna Scott, the world's most beautiful woman. Between an orange juice-spilling episode and her visit to his apartment to change into clean clothes, a love story grows.

7. Once (2006)

Although listed as a musical by its producers, Once is pure movie romance in the story of a struggling musician and a single mother trying to make their way through the streets of Dublin. Watch it and find your pure love!

8. When Harry Met Sally… (1989)

A quirky romantic comedy about two friends who slowly develop feelings for each other. One of the best written romances of all time, Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan share delicious dialogue before finally coming to realize the love they were looking for was in front of them all along. If you plan to express your love to a friend, this movie will increase the mood!

9. Brokeback Mountain  (2005)

Brokeback Mountain is one of the most tragic love stories of all time. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal generated serious heat in their roles as lovers who because of time and culture, could not be together.

10. Roman Holiday (1953)

This is one of the unique classic romantic comedies here that Audrey Hepburn fans would definitely enjoy watching on Valentine's day. There have been many romantic comedies made about princesses looking for their prince charmings, but this movie is the best. Its surprising storyline and unexpected ending make it stand out from the rest. If you're looking for a more realistic and unique fairytale about a princess, then this is one of the romantic comedies you must see around Valentine's Day.

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I do believe above movies would give your lovers a romantic feeling. They might have made us cry, but they also gave us hope and inspiration on the power love has over people.
